Mississippi Entomological Association
The MEA was established in 1954 to promote the science of entomology in all its branches in Mississippi by encouraging entomological research, assisting in securing of funds or facilities needed for entomology work, to bring about a closer understanding between research, regulatory, educational, and commercial entomologists, and to promote good will and understanding among all persons interested in entomological work.
The collective force if its membership has been valuable in support of entomologically related legislation, agricultural pest control, and the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology at Mississippi State University. The recent establishment of the Midsouth Entomologist, a peer-reviewed journal serving entomologists of the midsouthern United States, and the establishment of annual round table discussions for researchers, consultants, industry representatives, and extension personnel demonstrates the membership’s vibrant interest in the science as a whole and in insect pest management so critically needed in an agricultural state.
